Ali and Dean started D3 Alliance in 2017 and since then have provided a range of services and projects to various clients. Additional team members are available for short term and long term contracts based on the project requirements and skills needed.

With a Masters degree and PhD in Clinical and Health Psychology, Ali is a neurobehavioural economist who was always much more interested in the ‘real world’ than a research laboratory and academia.

This interest led her to become involved in large scale safety culture change projects in the resources industry, and the ‘real world’, which has seen her work across 32 countries. Ali has held a variety of positions throughout her career including being academic, project manager, principal psychologist and leader of client services within a global safety consulting organisation.

To develop her understanding of the industry in which she works, Ali has spent significant time in field alongside the workforce, including:

Underground – an initial two-week block during Ali’s first work placement (coal), followed by many, many shifts in underground Gold, Coal, Platinum & Diamonds in Australia, South Africa and Canada;
Working night shifts in despatch;
In Haul Packs during weekends and night shifts;
With exploration geology teams in field in Ghana and the DRC;
In fabrication yards in Asia servicing large construction Projects in Australia;
As a trades assistant on a small bridge project (not very successfully); and
On large construction projects in Australia (such as Gorgon, Wheatstone, BHP Yandi, Worsley Alumina, Curtis Island (GLNG).

With a Bachelor of Engineer (Civil) and Grad Certificate of Management. Dean has predominantly worked in construction during his career, starting as a site engineer and progressing to General Manager of a Structural Mechanical business unit.

This experience has provided Dean with a strong background not only of projects, but also the support services required for a business to operate efficiently and profitably.

The variety of projects and positions held include:

Project engineering and management and project director for civil, structural, mechanical and electrical project;
Demolition projects, including tender development, methodology and site management;
Design management for civil and SMPE&I projects;
Tender management and methodology development for a range of projects;
Precontracts management;
Member of project governance board for Joint Venture project;
Process and procedure development and the certification and maintaining of ISO9001 for materials handling design company; and
Project support, including commercial, quality and safety.
